An EBook Book Reader Manufactured By The Computer Giants Acer Inc. In Line To Take On Kindle2
Acer Inc., no bodies fool when it comes to contending in the notebook space, have announced their plans to enter the ebook book reader arena soon this year.
Acer executive Jim Wong, leader of the company's IT Goods section, outlined the strategy through an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's headquaters in Taipei.
On the eve of Apple's supposed entry into the tablet sweeps-a model that would serve ebook readers plus others-Wong also said the company will furthermore offer "hundreds" of apps online, programs which will sustain Google's Android platform, at this time running on quite a few Acer goods, on top of handling Microsoft's Windows OS.
By July, Acer will be expected to circulate an e-book reader with a 150 mm monochrome display, Mr. Wong informed Bloomberg. "Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble; they are US based. In Western Europe and Australasia we have publishers to work with, and most of them are subject matter owners," he said. Acer could go up in opposition to gadgets including the Kindle , B and N Inc.'s Nook and Sony's Prs-30 and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-when it emerges-to contend with. "We're producing something, and we shall observe what happens" J.T. Wang, Acer's CEO, said in the commentary. "We're sure to work what's more within a Windows world or in Google's definite OS space."
